An Introduction to Rotaract

For those of you who are wondering what Rotaract is, and means, just keep on reading...

Founded in 1968 as a Rotary International Youth program, Rotaract has extended its wide pervasive wings across the globe with more than 9000 clubs and 250,000 members. The name Rotaract was coined from the two words “Rotary” and “Interact” although it stands for “Rotary in action”.

Rotaract is a service club, which is rotary sponsored and which is open to the youth between the age group 18 – 30. In order to be inducted as members or “Rotaractors”, prospective members should show a keen interest in the field of services and other Rotaract related commitments.

A rotaract year consists of many programs, meetings, club activities etc, of which many are fund-raisers for charity. Rotaractors often work with each other, depicting team work and also with other Rotaract clubs jointly in order to portray Unity and to continue their good standing in the Community. Through all these team activities and services, a Rotaractor is not only contributing to the community, but also creating and being a part of the beautiful worldwide framework of long-lasting friendships and relationships.

Here at IIT, we have formed a strong and successful Rotaract Club under the name "RCIIT" and we are sponsored by the Rotary Club of Nugegoda. As a successful Rotaract club, we embrace the four avenues of Community Development, Club Service, Pofessional Development and International Understanding

Since its inception the members have been actively involved in organising various community and club based activities and they have also had the opportunity to engage in various Professional Development programs.

Amused by it all? Want to join the chain of Successful Rotaracters? Talk to a fellow Rotaracter and here you are... Welcome to the RCIIT family!
